Giver of Stars was more conventionally constructed and plotted, with more obvious tugging at the reader's emotions. I liked both books, for different reasons. I can honestly say I do not see any plagiarism and understand why these claims were not pursued legally. Honestly I had never heard of Richardson's book until I read the false claims of plagiarism about the two books. I loved both books and hope that other readers will give both a chance. Moyes book focuses mostly on the relationships between women and finding a sense of belonging in a new place. I felt that Richardson's book would appeal more to young readers, and is shorter than Moyes book by half. I feel that both books are great, but in two completely different ways. This is not even discussed in Moyes book. Richardson's books main focus is the blue people of Kentucky. The protagonists were nothing alike, and the story lines were nothing alike. Moyes' book main character is a refined lady from England who marries a Kentuckian. This book is told from the perspective of a 19 year old hill woman who was raised in the mountains of KY. Other than the fact that both protagonists were pack horse librarians, there were minimal similarities if any that could be considered overlapping. I read these books one right after the other and can say that I did not think they were similar at all.
